Nicholas Kirkwood For Rodarte - Fall Winter 2010

Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, designed so cleverly in imitation of the sculpture of white wax candles lit at the beginning of the show. Inspired by the sisters' Mexican roots and the romantic, dreamy landscapes of Ciudad Juárez. The show ended with ethereal, almost virginal white dresses that leave you wondering, just what was on their mind when these were created. I really enjoyed Nicole Phelps description of the white dresses:

"white dresses that alternately called to mind quinceañera parties, corpse brides, and, if you wanted to look at it through a really dark prism, the ghosts of the victims of Juárez's drug wars."

Wow those are so unique. I would never have thought there would be a shoe out there that looked like a candle. Very cool.
