Lena Erziak - Fall Winter 2010 Collection

Thoughtful and Timeless are the words that come to mind when I think of Lena Erziak handbags which I discovered last Spring. Designers Leona and Hasana Erziak have a deep family bond and it really shows.

About a week back I was fortunate enough to meet with Leona and her amazing team in their new Lower East Side showroom. I got a first hand look at current collection and got a little one on one time with Leona. Highly influenced by family this talented pair were destined to do something amazing. Growing up their with an artisan father and a couturier mother, there's no doubt these women understand quality, which explains handsomely hand sewn details on their handbags.

Each collection draws influences from vintage, travels to Eurpoe and South America and of course from the streets of New York. "New York is the best place in the world, everything you need is right here; There is so much hope and energy on the streets and so many people to find inspiration from" Leona told me enthusiastically. "A Handbag should be like your boyfriend" Leona said "You care for them, you keep them close to you, you don't share them with other people." Which might explain why all the bags are named after men! My personal favourite is Al, Paccino that is! There is something for everyone in this collection which features warm maroons, classic blacks and cool turquoises. These are the kind of bags that you will pass on to your children's children.

Leona also hinted that the upcoming Spring collection was inspired by her 2 year old son. Can't wait to see what's in store for Spring!
