It’s Where the Heart Is
When this post goes live, I will be somewhere between continents. I can’t say I’ve particularly missed my home in New York while on this voyage. Something about this return, however, is especially symbolic for me.
After being away two months, this return represents a chance to reset and refresh my New York life. It’s quiet surprising how much travel really did change my outlook. I am returning to New York with a new found sense of self, and confidence that I never realized I was lacking to being with; reaffirmed love of my body; more friends than when I left; and filled with hope.
Home has been many places for me over the years, but none of them has been more challenging than New York. I, like most people, get the sense that the city never truly embraces you. It’s dirty, stressful, busy yet it’s also beautiful, fun, energetic. Despite its contradictions I’m going to embrace the sh** out of that city. I miss the sounds; the familiar faces; the endless energy that buzzes through the city; My amazing roommates who, despite our differences, add a bit of magic to my day. Although I will miss life in Asia, there really is no place like home, “It’s where the heart is” afterall.
